Welcome to the Stainforth Voice Archive!

Lifetimes & Memories
A Recorded Social History of the Doncaster & Stainforth Area

My name is Adge Covell and I operate the Stainforthonline series of websites. I would like to ask you for your participation in a project I started in 2005.

Over the coming years I will be visiting and interviewing people who have connections with the local area and asking them to share their memories with me. I hope to build up a collection of recordings that can be accessed by anyone anywhere in the world, through this website. Such a collection of recorded memories will be of benefit to schools and colleges all over the borough, as well as to anyone interested the social history of Stainforth and the surrounding localities.

Imagine how wonderful it would be to hear the voice and thoughts of your great grandparents, telling of life in Victorian England, or of the terrors of World War 1. Imagine if you could listen to your grandmother telling stories of everyday family life at the turn of the 20th century.
Through this project we will have the opportunity to create a time capsule of living history for future generations to share and even add to.

I have already collected many hours of recordings from several people, which will be edited and added to various sections on this site. The editing is taking longer than anticipated, so check back
again for updates. This site layout is tempory, as I plan to make the whole collection of recordings accessible in a database format, which will be fully searchable and which the user will be able to cross reference throughout the site.

For details on the areas of interest, please click on the buttons above or to the left.

If you would be willing to be interviewed and take part in this exciting project, please contact me so that we can arrange to meet. Alternatively, why not try recording a memory of your own and send it to me for inclusion on the voice archive.
